BOND

BOND (formerly known as DICI) is a student organization founded in 2016 within the Division of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (CCE) with three main goals:

Broaden access to careers in chemical research–primarily focusing on prospective students in community colleges within the LA area;
Promote discussions of inclusivity that encourage and support diverse perspectives and a provide a greater sense of belonging by all community members;
Host faculty to present special seminars about both their chemistry research and personal career journey.

BOND aims to facilitate and embolden discussions on fairness in science and provide a space for students from different backgrounds to discuss issues and share ideas to advance our Division and create a safer and more inclusive community.

Day of Inclusion is BOND's flagship event: a biennial program with invited speakers, interactive workshops, and seminars designed to support belonging, inclusion, and accessibility across the Caltech chemistry and chemical engineering community. We have been honored to host Dr. Richmond Sarpong, Dr. André Isaacs, Dr. Mona Minkara and Dr. Malika Jeffries-EL as our keynote speakers.

BOND has been holding lab tours for local college students since 2021. We have hosted students from Pasadena City College, Cerritos College, Fullerton College, and Cal Poly Pomona. On these tours, we aim to expose students to the different areas of chemistry research and share information about pathways to science careers.
